3.THREATS AND SOLUTIONS

a) Threats:

Agriculture Enroachment

The forests are being burned

People are cutting down trees for their own benefit

This type of Sunbird is known as an Endangered Species, because their living environment are being seriously invaded. Thanks to all the actions for agriculture encroachment and many other projects for urban region, the area of the original forest has almost been completely cleared, which has made the tree cover of the islands of Siau extremely limited.

b) Solutions:

Everybody are helping to rebuild the forest

In order to protect the Elegant Sunbirds as well as other species and the forest, some solutions and actions have been offered and done. For instance, the government and local authorities are working on promoting wildlife conservation on Sangihe Island. Also, there have been lots of conservation awareness programs for endangered species like the “Action Sampiri Project". At the moment, people are thinking of a new way for future land used that we can both profit ourselves and protect all the animals.
